My 295 came with a similar coupon. I misplaced it, and found it a year later.
It still worked.

To find out the Jepp "effectivity dates" click onto www.jeppesen.com,
products and services, GPS navdata services, documentation & support,
effectivity schedule (the actual link is a mile long...)

Since we're talking specifically about the 396, here's another way:

http://shop.garmin.com/aviation/databases/
select GPSMAP 396 from the pull-down and click on continue
select Jeppesen and click on continue

The next cycle is number 0510, is available 9/19, and effective 9/29 to 10/26.

Each cycle is 28 days, so advance all the dates 28 days to calculate the next one.
