The air-to-air freqs you refer to are not used in oceanic airspace...all transoceanic flights are talking to the appropriate oceanic controller on his/her discrete frequency. Use of this freq for plane-to-plane is not kosher, but not unusual, either. For the 25 years that I flew trans-oceanic, whether the FAA or FCC approved it or not, 123.45 WAS Oceanic Common. I suspect that it still is. Not too many Radio Cops out there. :-) Bob Moore |
