![]() "Skyking" wrote in message m... Your "temp" is good for 120 days and it ususlly takes about 10 weeks or more. You can go to the FAA Airman Registry website Yeah, it looks like they are working on certificates dated 10 weeks back. Here is the website: http://registry.faa.gov/airmen.asp Your DE or the local FSDO can give you a new temporary. Mine was within a few days of expiring and the FSDO just gave me a new (temporary) one. At the time it evidently was quite a common request. My permanent one did actually show up before the original 120 days were up, but just barely. |

They won't send out a temporary certificate just on the basis of my say-so on the telephone. Remember, neither the FSDO nor OKC has any record of me taking the checkride! Nor, it now turns out, does my DE. [At least he remembers it.] ----------------------------------------------- James M. Just so people don't get disappointed, you don't just "walk in" a FSDO anymore since "9-11". You must call and get an appointment. Granted, there are some that may let you in but not all of them. Granted, there are some that may let you in but not all of them. Actually, the Washington FSDO (at Dulles) despite the "official pronouncement" that you need an appointment, will meet you in the lobby of their office for simple things even without an appointment. I had to go there and get a new certificate when getting rectal-probed to fly into my home airport because my hair color was listed differently on my medical than on my pilot certificate. To their credit, the FSDO reissued a corrected certificate with a minimal amount of hassle. |

Your log book should have your check ride date and examiners signature

: Your log book should have your check ride date and examiners signature It does. And I still have the original (well, the copy they give to the applicant) temporary certificate. But it's not that the FAA doesn't believe me (well, actually, they don't - or at least they don't care). They require a full data package, including application for certificate, original (from the DE) of the temporary, original of the knowledge test, etc. None of that exists anymore, of course. Current plan is for me to reconstitute the 8710 form for back when I took the checkride, try to get a new "original" of the knowledge test certificate (which has expired), and the other paperwork. Take that to my my CFI and get him to sign another copy. Then fly over to east Texas (about 250 nm each way) to get the DE to sign everything. Then if I am lucky we can mail it all back to OKC. No, I'm not worried about it all --- YET! But a friend assures me they know someone this happened to, and she had to take her checkride over again. Guess I'll wait a few days before I start practicing those Chandelles again. Sigh... BTW, the FSDO suggestion. Turns out my local (75 miles away) FSDO isn't involved. It's the one 200 miles away that is involved. And they aren't even taking requests for scheduling visits (no walk-ins, period) until the alert level goes back down. ----------------------------------------------- James M. you mean the DE did not give you a copy of all the paperwork?
And you did not keep a pencil copy of the 8710 you filed out? That DE should give you your money back.. BT "James M. Knox" wrote in message ...
