Caught him... He wrecked the second one. The first one he just taxied
around the field for a while.

From chron.com's story:
"Brazoria County Chief Deputy Sheriff Charles Wagner said Kadlecek knew
the airport layout because he had performed community service there after
one of his previous arrests."

Aaaaggghhh! D*mn, I thought community service was a good thing, but now
I'm not so sure... : Can't they send them out to clean highway ditches or
something?

I am glad this drunk doofus wasn't a real pilot, though... that would have
been bad PR private pilots don't need...

Brian.

It's a pretty good demonstration of how stable and easy some airplanes
are to use. If a drunken idiot can figure out how to start it up by
using the manual, and then fly it, without any training whatsoever...

Considering the guy's record, it would appear that he's not an idiot,
he's a sociopath.

And he was on probation for burglary with previous arrest for
running off with other people's vehicles. Is this the kind of guy
that should be doing community service at an airport? Why not have
him count the money for the local United Way drive?

We'll get it anyway. Expect a lot more pressure to "secure" our aircraft.

I wonder what the first plane he tried was. Anyone know? Heck, I
thought the 172R was complicated when I first got in it.
