Good evening friends. Recently got a plane with a Limbach L2000 engine.

Is
this engine a Type 1 or 4 VW?

It has a single magneto and I want to add an electronic ignition. I
contacted Steve from Great Plains about machining a second set of spark

plug
holes in the cylinder heads. He asked me if it was a type 1 or 4 and I

did
not know the answer.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

If the exhaust ports ar on the bottom of the cylinder, it's a Type 4.
The Type 1 exhaust ports ar on the front of the front jugs, and back
side of the back cylinders.

Richard
