I am a private pilot with 450hrs. Currently I own a grumman tiger and
have been looking to move into something newer. I have been looking at the diamond c1 eclipse (2001-2002). Today I spoke to an A&P who informed me of a strange phenomenon. One of the katana c1's at the flight school had shed 2 props, one of them in flight! He said the sensenich prop was wooden and that it expanded and contracted with the climate and could loosen the prop bolts and therefore shed the prop in flight. The prop bolts need to be retorqued every 50hrs and any time there is a significant climate change. Is anyone aware of this? If anyone owns an eclipse, I would love to hear from you and perhaps speak with you before I make this purchase. thanks Scott |
