Well Ivan is it's name and it may very well be on the way.
Sure hope people take it serious if it comes to Florida.

Right. Cat. 4, already, and lots of warm water to cross. Track is
predicted to miss all of Florida, ('cept maybe Key West) but Texas and
Louisiana, look out. Reid, you watching?

I am watching very closely. I have lived through three of them in Houston and
don't look forward to another one. I do have a real appreciation for what the
folks in Florida are going through right now on a few fronts. In one year
alone, we went through two storms. The first was a major microburst event that
knocked out power to our area for over a week due to hundreds of downed pine
trees and wiped out power lines. They had just gotten that repaired, we had
restocked our fridge and freezer when a hurricane came through. We were
without power for almost three weeks that time. We became real good customers
of Coleman lanterns and cookers.

It does look like Ivan is going to bypass Florida since it has stayed on a true
westerly course. The big question is rather it will hit Louisiana or Texas.
Either case is going to be bad news for someone since it has a lot of very warm
open warter to work with. Hope it ISN'T the big one that New Orleans has been
fearing for decades.

Just a few minutes ago, NHC updated the forecast for Ivan to strike Fort
Myers.

People are waiting 90 minutes for Subway without bitching. People are
stopping at intersections were the signal lights are down and waving others
through first. It's surreal but it's nice (for however long it lasts).

For the sake of everyone in Florida, I hope they are wrong. The current
predictions of a couple of the models show it going right up the center of
Florida. That would be a really devastating blow to an already crippled state.

We had gusts in the 40-50mph range early on Mon. morning here in the Atlanta
area. I took the precaution of checking up on the the Wright machine's hauler
trailer the day before. Iit is now tied down to 4 ballast blocks weighing 160
lbs each. That pretty much keeps it from rocking enough to blow over any more.

I checked up on everything last night and the trailer and plane weathered the
storm without a scratch. That makes two hurricanes now... I was in Raleigh
for an airshow last year when we got hit by Isabel.
