There was a similar thread to this several weeks ago. It all quieted
down after some advised the group that the data can be transferred to a
spreadsheet using the current version of the JPI program. All you have
to do is display the data. It can then be cut and pasted into any other
program, such as Excel. A little tedious but still provides the
functionality you would want from the spreadsheet.

Somehow I have misplaced my copy of the older JPI PC software that

allows
me to download data from a JPI EDM-700 monitor to my laptop. I

called JPI
for a replacement copy, but they no longer offer the older version.

I was
told that the new version does not allow the data to be converted

to
Excel
format so it really does me no good.

I sent an email to JPI tech support asking why their software would
no longer support the export of data into a standard format that

could
be used by other programs. The response was that their software now
performs every function that anyone would want, so there is no need

to
be able to convert the data from their proprietary format.

Frankly, I'd expect such a ludicrous response like that from a

second
rate software vendor, but not from an avionics hardware vendor. I
want a little flexibility in how I manipulate MY engine data.

I was 2 weeks away from buying an EDM-700 when I found out about
this. Now EI is getting my money.

Is EI any better, I wonder?

Jon

EI lets you download your data into a .CSV (comma-separated text file
which you can open with Excel, or any other spreadsheet program).

One thing you can do with that data is to use EI's data conversion
program so that you can import your data into EGView from www.EGTrends.com
..

I believe that JPI thinks that their analysis software is better than
EGView, but for my money, any company that forces me to view MY data in
their program isn't the kind of business I want to work with.

EI and EGView got my money, and their tech support groups were both very
responsive to my "new user" queries.
