Yes Jim,

In principle one can trade things off. As a matter of fact GPS_LOG
WinCE will allow you to make some tradeoffs exactly because the
display is somewhat larger. But, at least I, will leave font clarity
management to Microsoft . You will still be able to choose font you
like.

I will still stick to my 1550 for as long as I can.

quite a lot more info to see on the display at the same (yes -

choose between 3.5" and the 4" with it's high resolution 640x480
display. That's a big difference in area and a four fold increase
in 'detail'.
