It's probably because the charger can only put out a smaller amount of
current than the transmitter needs during transmit. If the battery is too low in charge and unable to supply the transmit current, it will try to draw the required current from the charger, possibly until burnout. Scott Morgans wrote: "Ron Wanttaja" wrote FWIW, I emailed ICOM about my IC-A5, and they definitely said not to transmit on the charger. My ICOM, also. Do you (or Jim) know what the reason (electronically) is, behind this restriction?
