But
this one at the airport is the whole U.S., and they aren't full-size
sectionals or, as you said, it would never fit.

Then it may be made of of WACs instead of sectionals. A full set for the
continental U.S. costs about $88.

Next time you see this mural, look for Unicom frequencies. WACs don't have those.

(wacking self on forehead) THATS what I was thinking of when I described
how my local FBO did theirs...WAC charts, not "IFR charts". right
thinking, wrong term.

This might work. They have 3 chart sets that cover the entire US

VFR/IFR Planning charts
large JNC-A charts
larger JNC charts
largest
east on one side/ west on the other
40" x 36" each side
(full USA - 72" x 40")
scale - 1:3.4 million

I have these...buy them while they can... I think NGA is going to stop
making these available in paper form.

The best chart was the old IFR/VFR wall charts that NOAA used to make,
but they stopped producing them some time ago. These were neat because
they came in two sections so you could hang up either the entire country
IFR, the entire country VFR, or IFR and VFR together for half the country.

There was a guy at Oshkosh who mosaics sectionals together and prints
them on large format (HP) printers. I could do this at work (I have
the printer and the software to do this is what I do for a living).

Yeah... I just hate it when that happens... especially all the skeletons
laying around the pilot lounge.

Here's a thread that discusses the subject I believe:

Kyler Laird has a web site that contains hi-res scans of sectional
charts and the software to stitch them together. You can do a Google
Groups search, or perhaps he'll respond to this message thread.

Here's what I've got.

For printing...well, you'd want to do some "special stuff".

Note that my DVD sectionals subscription lapsed. I'm working with
another subscriber to share data.

Our airport terminal has a VFR Sectional Mural of the United States,
taking up one entire wall of the pilot lounge. I've searched online, but
can't find such a product. Does anyone know if it exists or where to
find it?

That's quite a mural. Just the 48 contiguous states would make it about 19
feet high and 28 feet wide.
