Hmmm...if say, a "Afro-American" (or whatever PC term is used nowadays) commits a heinous crime, does that make all AA's look like dangerous criminals? Is Americans capacity for thought that far gone? If so, we're in really deep ****.

Isn't that how stereotypes generally come about? Attributing characteristics of a small amount of people to the entire group?

That's an interesting argument to make, considering the scrutiny aviation has come under since 9/11. When the non-flying public sees another small plane accident, in this case a high profile crash, it has to color their opinions of GA and maybe question the safety of small aircraft flying over cities. It's this kind of negative attention that we don't need.
