Looking at the Super Bowl restrictions I have to wonder what the value

None whatsoever. Doesn't even mean anything for IFR. The same goes
for the ADIZ. The FRZ flight plans however are routed from Leesburg
AFSS to the Secret Squirrels.

Will ATC verify with FSS that you opened your flight plan before
issuing your transponder code???

Nope, they don't know, don't really care. Potomac approach pretty
much got up and said they aren't the flight plan police.

We should all make up and file a VFR flight plan to the
Miami area, whether we have a trip or not, 25000 extra
flight plans should make the VFR plan security rule
obviously stupid.

It's not going to make a difference other than annoy the
FSS briefer you file it with. No security person has
any clue what the plan is.

Then it will do nothing but chew up some disk storage
temporarily. VFR plans filed in DUAT go nowhere.
