I followed the link to your website, and the pictures of your trip.
Are you SURE that is downtown Indianapolis...???

I lived in Indy for 4 years and I think those pictures sort of look
like downtown Cinncinati! Unless Indy has changed ALOT since I lived
there...

Keeping things honest.

Jay... what really chokes you up is watching gliders ... sail planes.. land
on that grass at the base of the monument in 2003.. the final leg of a cross
country glider race..

As a well known bumper sticker says on the back of a glider trailer..

Thank you Wilbur and Orville..

Finally got 'round to putting together a webpage of photos from our
recent East Coast Barnstorming tour.

Here's one of Mary and me (with Atlas) at the Wright Brothers Memorial
in Kill Devil Hills, NC:

If you ever get a chance to fly there, take it -- for me it was like
visiting the Sistine Chapel or Mecca -- almost a religious experience.

Here's one of us at the Howard's Pub "Welcome to Ocracoke" sign:
(Many thanks to those who recommended this great place to stop!)

Here's a short video of the pathetically broken Cirrus on the side of
the runway at Ocracoke Island: (It hurts to look at it!)

Here's a pic of our Million Dollar View from our hotel balcony on
Myrtle Beach...

Completely by accident, we flew to the beach that has been rated "2nd
Best in the World" by Conde Nast, right behind Waikiki Beach.

Finally, if you're really bored, you can see a whle bunch more pix and
videos from this flight to West Virginia, North & South Carolina,
Alabama, Tennessee, and Missouri he

It was six days off, four days of flying, 17 hours in the air, 2008
miles -- all following the sun.

Enjoy!

Good stuff Jay. We did the Wright Memorial last year. http://pad39a.com/gene/wright.html

Memphis and Myrtle Beach bring back memories of flights too.

And BTW, March 14 thru 16 I was making a flight from St Louis to
Kansas and then to Montana and back home. Had 60+ knot tailwinds
coming home across Iowa - thank you very much.

Because we fly, we envy no one.

Um, well, I'm fairly certain. I wasn't PIC at that point, and wasn't
paying TOO much attention to where we were -- but I'm fairly certain
that is the Indy 500 speedway.

Is there a race track in Cincy?

Yeah, those headwinds that followed that cold front were really
something. We stayed up at 8500 feet, to stay in smooth air, but the
trade-off was a SLOOOOW flight.

Luckily, my kids are now old enough (and experienced enough) to be
able to "hold it" for up to four hours, so we just flipped on the XM
radio, hit the autopilot, and enjoyed the flight!

Dang, I would have given anything to have been there in '03. Just
couldn't put it together, right after opening the hotel...

The shot of the race track is in fact the Brickyard, but the next
two shots labeled as Indynoplace are some other city. The Colts
play in the Hoosier Dome, which as the name implies, has a roof.

I vote for Cincinnati as well.

Jay's pictu

Downtown Cincinnati:

Downtown Indianapolis:

Jay's picture looks like it was taken about a mile or so north of the
river in Cincinnati, looking south-ish at maybe 170-175 degrees.

Another Ohio note: in several weeks, many student pilots will start to
fly in many areas of the state - mostly around the cities, but some out
in the country as well. They will mostly be day VFR, with some night
VFR mixed in. They will have no radio, no electrical system, and
probably won't show up on radar. At first they will be practicing
takeoffs and landings, but will very quickly start practicing air-to-
air combat/refueling operations. See http://206.183.13.237 for details.

I vote for the Ohio river and the stadium(s), Riverfront Stadium AKA Cinergy
Field or what ever they call it now... being in Cincinnati.
http://www.ballparks.com/baseball/national/cinerg.htm

I71/75 is on the right, 471 is off the left side of Jay's pic. I've given
hundreds of truck drivers directions to 2 Plum St, just on the KY side, off
of I471 between the interstate and the Licking River. If you live in
southern Ohio, chances are that you've eaten produce that has made it's way
through Castelini's facility in Wilder, KY.

We liberated our Aztec from an owner just up the road at Butler Co Airport
and I did some IFR training at Lunken, let's see... 17 years ago? Seems
like forever.

Pretty country in the summer and fall.

Jim
