This would be most unfortunate if true, but - as it happens - I too looked
at those home prices and had the same reaction as you.

I looked briefly but couldn't find anything either.

All I can say is that the source is well known in the local aviation
community and yes, I trust him. He has no interest in the situation
other than as a user of the airport and has no reason to lie or spread
rumors.
