VW derivative engine in Kitplanes-Help Please!

Good Morning all.
A few months ago I saw a VW derivative engine in the front of the
kitplanes magazine, in the What's New section in the front. I have since
misplaced this magazine and can't remember the name of the
maker/distributor. The engine is based on the VW engine, but I think
didn't actually use any VW parts. It was basically an upgraded model of a
previous version and had distinctive red anodizing to some of the parts.
I thought it was a Great Planes angine but I checked their site and it's
not.
Can anyone help me out here?

I checked this site and was very impressed about everything but one thing.
Price. At the current exchange rate it would cost me more than for a 914.
About two months ago it would have been a different story. We were getting
goos $s for the Euro.
