Default West coast soaring - where and when?

What exactly are the insurance requirements?

I rented at Soar Minden for two weeks in mid-August, 2004. It was a
fantastic experience. Thermals were 12-15,000' most every day.

Insurance required was $25,000/$250,000 bodily/property liability and
$25,000 hull liability. I got mine from Avemco. It takes a few minutes
to get the policy and it can be done at the office at Soar Minden. A
one year policy was $395, but once you cancel, you get most of that
back.

Also note that Soar Minden offer attractive 5, 7, 10 day packages that
include a daily high tow, O2, chute, hotel, transfers, transport, and
some instruction time. They made the entire experience as painless as
possible.

www.soaringcenter.net near Las Vegas. Rentals & instruction. x-c April
- September. Ins thru Avemco if licensed & visa for US.

Always someone available to tag along in the back seat if you don't
want the red tape & beauracracy.

Just to note, it seems that the required limits have increased. When I was
there this past January the requirement was $40,000 hull, and I don't
recall the rest. There was also an option to pay Soar Minden a relatively
small waiver fee which would clear you for any liability above $40,000,
leaving you responsible for the first $40,000 out of pocket. I didn't
quite understand how these two make sense together, but that's how it was.

Interesting tip about the cancellation, I didn't know that before. I
didn't end up needing anything from Soar Minden because I was only there
for a short time and didn't fly alone, but I'll keep that in mind for the
next time.

I think my brain temporarily shut off while writing that last sentence.
What I meant to say was that I didn't end up needing insurance or a
waiver, since I never flew solo during my time there.
