What aircraft if any did they fly against Pictures of any actions would be appreciated Not on this subject but still aircraft related did the British give to the Russians Rolls Royce engines and technology that could have been used against Americans in Korea Yes, the British provided the Rolls Royce Nene to Russia. What's this about "used against America"? Whatever the History Channel may tell you, the Korean conflict was a United nations operation and many other nations were involved. Doesn't the involvement of the Republic of Korea, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Ethiopia, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and the United Kingdom count? "used against America" was most likely just a general statement due to the fact the USAF had an average of 9 fighter wings and 3 bomber wings deployed during the war (with some RAF pilots assigned), while the RAF had one Sunderland flying boat wing (2 squadrons) in Japan. The USN had 2-4 aircraft carriers on the line during the entire war (TF 77) that flew over 301,000 strike flights. The Commonwealth had one carrier (TF 95) on the line flying over 25,000 flights. USN escort carriers in TF 95 flew another 20,000 flights. Indeed, but it's back to the History Channel perception that only America was involved, as mentioned in another thread in this group. http://www.korean-war.com/AirWar/GreatBritain.html A better picture is given here of Britain and the Commonwealth's contribution - and wasn't that the war where a British piston engined aircraft shot down a MiG-15? yep a Hawker Sea Fury go the big radial !! Just like that! -- Moving things in still pictures! |
