What might be a medical condition related to one's heart that could be
discovered that would make you ineligible to continue flight training...something like irregular heartbeat, etc. This is a bit of research for a literary project I'm working on...thanks in advance... ZW |

Something in the water? I tried reboots twice but it did not stick. Warfarin for ever! |

ZW Check the FAA Regs. Sickle Cell is another one that grounds you. Not cardiac, but inability to move oxygen. There are texts on aerospace medicine that should be available in a good college library or should available by inter library loan from any local library. I know there is a journal on aerospace medicine but I can't remember the name of it. Most cardiac conditions are pretty much grounds for losing your ticket. I know there are military regs on this but I couldn't give you a cite on this. Its not like the flight surgeon has a Magic 8 ball to determine if you stay on flight status.... vision is the big cut. Military is 20/20 both eyes uncorrected. Less for lesser beings. http://www.whs.mil/library/mildoc/AR...ber%201965.pdf not a great cite. I think its superseded also, but gist of it is sort of a good template for a paper. If you're doing this for research for a book, I'd contact Brooks AFB for Aerospace Medicine and get in touch with them. Military and civilian are somewhat different. Go into space, any cardiac problems ground you. they even think there's a problem. |
