I was just looking at Chanute's Museum web site an notice most of the
aircraft I remember seeing in 1974 are gone. Where did they go? Who got the B-29 for instance? I was there attending Maintenance Officer school in 1977. The B-29, F-84F, S-16 and B-36 were there but even then they were sawing up planes on the flightline with chainsawa and the like. Sadly watched them cut up an RF-105, apparently a prototype.. |

![]() "ArtKramr" It is the way all planes end up. Shed a tear and never forget. Hell Art, in Canada they even cut up brand new prototypes! Remember the CF-105 AVRO Arrow????? The government it seems are more interested in preserving old crates, like the Sea King for instance! :-( Is Chanute still an active base? I was there for an exchange Maintenance Analysis course when I was with a Canadian Bomarc Squadron as a quality control inspector way back when!. Ed |

Got hit in the first round of base closings. Posted via www.My-Newsgroups.com - web to news gateway for usenet access! |
