Dave any idea how they deal with ENL recording with the Antares or are they aerotowing with a sealed engine? Darryl |

Any engine operation is easily visible on the noise recording in mine, either in the Volksloger or FLARM IGC files. Its not "you must wear hearing protection or you will damage your hearing" like other motor-gliders, but it is noisy enough... See ya, Dave "YO electric" PS: You can see this in any of my flights: http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0...t=olc&pi=20684 |

Still makes a racket, especially extending and retracting the pylon (the hydraulic motor is running and the engine bay doors are open)... Really its all quite silly ! Thanks Darryl ps. SAY AGAIN, WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT BEARING DAMAGE? :-) Yup, I know some pilots like that. I don't bother with the headset for airstarts, though I sometimes use it on the ground to be sure and hear any radio calls... See ya, Dave "YO electric" |

Ever seen your altimeter go up this fast ? http://scottishglidingcentre.com/blog/ Some stats: Declared 1551 km task Average speed of 180.3 kph (97.4 kts). This beat the old record of 177.3 kph (95,7 kts) set by Klaus Ohlmann and Regis Kuntz. Looks like a good start for John's first time in the Andes ! Best Regards, Dave "YO elcetric" |

I note that some speeds exceed 335kmh at altitudes above 10000ft.
Is the Antares rated for this or is it modified to reduce flutter? bagger |

John Galloway One assumes that tail winds and the like were involved... Look at the ground speeds on Klaus Ohmlman's logs - Nimbus 4 with sustained ground speeds in the 300km/h+ range! Same circumstances. Bruce |
