The EPA has taken the first step in the rulemaking procedure to potentially ban
leaded in aviation gasoline. It is he http://www.regulations.gov/search/Re...00006480ae298f It is pretty clear where They are headed. They say "Currently, lead emitted by piston-engine aircraft operating on leaded avgas is the largest source of lead to the air, contributing about 50% of the National Emission Inventory in 2005." I suggest that everyone in aviation get thoroughly familiar with this issue, because this is a potential disaster for private aviation. We need to be sure that our voice is heard in the EPA rulemaking procedure, but it is probably even more important that we be supporting all efforts to provide affordable, safe and legal alternatives to leaded fuel.
