As mentioned in the contest report Thursday was great day for soaring
and racing here in Logan Utah.

Sports class had a big TAT and many pilots took advantage of it
crossing the Bear Lake Valley into the Salt River Range and back.

FAI had a assigned area task, i.e racing task, and they had a blast.
While the AAT is not called often all the pilots in the FAI class
enjoyed. Hope we can do it again

After 4 days in FAI Dave Leonard and Tim Taylor are tied at 3806
cumulative points!

A couple of things:

1) I feel no shame in being beaten by the likes of Bruno Vassel or
Adam Kite. They're great guys and hotshots in the cockpit, to boot.
Its been great fun getting to know them and getting to fly with them!
I'm still going to do my darndest to beat them, but we'll see where
the chips fall. :-)

2) A big public thanks to Ron for his duties as scorer. This has been
a busy contest with a lot of pilots, and many little issues that have
made scoring a challenge (weather, changes in tasks, forest-fire TFRs,
etc). Ron has handled it all, and appears to still have his sanity
intact - in spite of the crazy glider pilots like me that he has to
deal with! ;-)

Thanks, Micki!

My final blog post took a couple of days, but here's my wrap-up of the
Logan contest:

Sorry I didn't mention everyone by name; there were too many great
people to list them all! I had a blast, I met some great people both
at the airport and in the community, and I am really hoping to do it
again soon!

Word on the street is that 15m Nats may be at Logan next year. If
they can somehow pull off a Regional+National contest, I'll definitely
be flying!! Heck, if its just a Nationals I may come and crew just to
experience the people and the town again!

Very nice report Noel. I enjoyed reading it. With any luck if they
do a Regional next year I will be there as well.
