For those of you with motorized sailplanes, the Fuelventure efficiency contest might be something of interest. At this year's Copperstate Southwest Regional Fly-in, we will be hosting another fuel efficiency contest. New for this year is an additional 200 mile competition for aircraft flying the course at 60 to 119 miles an hour average speed. The fuelventure competition is won more with brain power than horse power by utilizing winds aloft, plotting high altitude efficiency against fuel to climb as well as efficient operation of your airframe and engine. Is there any requirement to have the engine running all the time? |
