Did Anyone Ever Buy a Glider HUD?

Did anyone ever buy and use one of these? *How well did it work? *Why
don't we have one of these today?

I have a friend who did use one of these HUDIS back in the 90'. Het
said it was a fantastic variometer and final glide calculator (before
the GPS craze hit), but didn't comment about the readability.

There simply was not enough interest in the giding community to
warrant further development.

A variant for power planes has also been briefly on the market.
