It's actually a frame from a low-budget war movie in the early '50s. Can't remember which one now, I saw it (probably) 40 years ago. You could very well be correct. However, so far, in five minutes I have found at least three web sites which have published this same image. see: http://worldwarwings.com/10-things-y...e-p-51-mustang Also, the movie clip answer doesn't explain the difference in the canopies. Based on the dates of the movie, wondering if these are P-51H or P-51K models, which do have the slightly different canopies. |

Cheers Dave Kearton movie was " Fighter Squadron " (1948) Thanks John, I may still be losing brain cells, but apparently that part is still intact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtsNMJHsuJI Cheers Dave Kearton |

You might have the answer, they could be H or K models, difficult to tell without seeing the full aircraft. Good call though. |

No problems John, it's great to see more pieces in the puzzle. Cheers Dave Kearton Also according to records from AFHRA , it was a request to the 20th AF from MacAthur's HQ for the photos of Batavia , that planes from the 3PRS flew those missions.. not part of thier normal assigned missons. When you posted the photos, it really got my attention, and I had to find out why they were well outside the normal stalking grounds. Thanks Again... |
