Rotax 912 has 259 hrs on it $ 3980. , needs work and some parts replaced , may trade for 582 or 503 Steve (623) 842-3902 I'm curious. Why does a Rotax 912 with only 259 hours on it need work and parts? Was it in a wreck? Rich |

Why does a Rotax 912 with only 259 hours on it need work and parts? Was it in a wreck? Rich 'Cause Rotax is junk! Pushed too hard. -- Jim in NC Our former EAA chapter president has, the last I heard, over 600 trouble-free hours in his Rotax 912-powered Zenair Zodiac, which he built here in WNC. In the springtime he flew his homebuilt to California and back. In our chapter's mail group he wrote an article in which he said the engine had never even burped. He is competing with other chapter members for the number of Young Eagles flown in the Zenair. I've lost count on that one. I don't have much faith in the 2-strokes but Rotax's 4-strokes have built a good record. The engine advertised here may be a fluke or there may be some special circumstances. The engine is required to be cowled properly because the cylinders are air-cooled while the heads are cooled with a 50/50 mix of water and ethylene glycol. In addition the engine is manufactured with a psru and turns at roughly twice the rpm as the prop. |
