Can some tell me what the '7000' represents? YPLM 130750Z 24009KT 7000 VCSH FEW030TCU SCT050 BKN080 22/21 Q1016 Altimeter - 1016mb? Not sure, never used millibars before. Q1016 is a QNH of 1016 hectopascals (in Oz). http://www.usatoday.com/weather/reso...k/wfaqpres.htm Have a read of http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...d/hectopas.htm for a criticism about hectopascal usage. |

YPLM 130750Z 24009KT 7000 VCSH FEW030TCU SCT050 BKN080 22/21 Q1016 It's the number of metres visibility (so in this case it's 7km). I read somewhere that Metar visibility is not listed as more than 10 miles if the vis is more than 10 miles. Is this true? I remember reading a vis of 99 miles at some point in the past. Or am I thinking of something else? Yup. If it says "9999", it means "10 kilometres or more". D. |
