Hi I've seen both the Rafale and typhoon display at the same airshow, Now I may be somewhat biased but I think the Typhoon easily outflew the Rafale, what was your opinion... Cheers HI all, Who else went this weekend, I went today and thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the lack of American Aircraft ( I guess that's to be expected with the situation in Iraq and Korea) as always a nice selection of RAF and German Tornados, nice to see the Rafale there is well, it does look a lovely aircraft. I also enjoyed the 100 years of flight exhibition, sure makes you realize how far we have come in a short space of time. What were your faves my favourite static was the MH53 Pave Low the crew were very cagey when I asked em if they took part in Saving Private Lynch, from their reaction I guess they were. And my favourite flying display was either the Luftwaffe Phantom or the RAF Typhoon flown by an Italian. What were your thoughts people? Dont worry about the spelling errors, because I don't! Jerry John Cook Any spelling mistakes/grammatic errors are there purely to annoy. All opinions are mine, not TAFE's however much they beg me for them. I've often seen both fly, and I have to agree a little. Rafale Demos at LeBourget and Farnborough are often disappointing, but I've seen it fly at Navy open days at it's base in Brittany, and it was pretty impressive, combined with an E-2C demo too. But isn't your impression mainly due to the fact that the Typhoon is a pure air superior fughter and interceptor, while the Rafale is optimized for multimission profiles? And we musn't forget that the Typhhon outpowers the Rafale by what...30% ? Think Typhoooon is config'd for ground bashing also... Typhoon got my vote yesterday (between the 2) but it was great to see a MIG-29 do it's tail slide trick. David |

Ken Duffey waxed lyrical
: But none of them were doing anything that the Flanker was wasn't doing - TEN years ago ! Except maintaining total control throughout every manouevre Ken! It's interesting to note that for both the Flanker and the MiG-29, during certain parts of the manouevres thay are most famous for, that the pilot is simply along for the ride. Never seen a Flanker even approximate the Typhoon's velocity vector roll. . . . -- -------- Regards Drewe Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity |

(at least thats how the commentator put it). But isn't that what a Cobra does - and doesn't everyone say that such a manouvre is of no use in combat and that its only an airshow routine? And - at what point is the Flanker 'out of control' ?? and if it is - how soon is it recovered ? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++ Ken Duffey - Flanker Freak & Russian Aviation Enthusiast Flankers Website - http://www.flankers.co.uk/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++ |
