resume flying after 25 year layoff

I resumed after 30 years. Flight sim helped, but as others have
commented, the communications and airspace designations were the most
challenging, since I'm flying near Chicago after learning out west.
Midwest weather has also been intimidating, especially in wintertime.
It took me about 10 hours to check out, and I did learn a couple of
bad habits on the sim - with no rudder pedals on my flight stick, I
was using excessive aileron to keep approaches lined up and had to
re-learn proper rudder usage.
