Shoot, for $100 more the Nano 3 looks like the way to go.

i like the electronic vario on the Nano3, but the user experience for operating its modes and screens belongs in a cardboard box in the garage with the barograph. I'd rather use a soaring app with my touchscreen iPad or iPhone.

Not Possible for any IGC Badge.

Agreed Bob. But as a back up, the nano three isn't bad. It has Bluetooth so you can probably use iGlide with your iPhone or iPad.

You cannot use an Ipad or Iphone for evidence of any IGC Badge, Diploma or
Record. They do not conform to the requirements of the Sporting Code
Section 3, in particular Chapter 4 and it's Appendix.

I was talking about slaving the high-res GPS in the data recorder to the iPad for navigation, not recording

Bob, I'm not up to date with the latest for iPad / iPhone. I believe Winpilot just released a version for iPhone. You can dig through RAS for opinions on various software options. Some of the US glider gear vendors have youtube videos up on the Nano3 and iGlide if you want a deeper look.

Cheers,
