Default Blanik Control Bridge AD

What are your experiences with the time required to complete this AD?
The AD itself says two hours. Any tips or tricks? I'm not an AP but
the one we use says it can take several hours w/alot of contortions
invovled.

We needed about halve a day for replacing the Control Bridge.
We know our hardware wery well, we are good technician, we have the
knwoledge "how to..".
Of course we were not in a hurry but we still needed about halve a
day.

Cheers,

I think to do a proper job, you need to remove it from the aircraft.

I agree with two people, it is about a day.

Trying to get a new bridge may not be easy, still waiting for a
quote. If you have an L-23, I have heard a new bridge terminates the
repetive inspection part of the AD.

I had to buy a new one. It cost about 880 Euros. What I bought is just
the "bridge" not the sticks associated to it.
In cases of cracks the AD stated that the bridge has to be replaced.
Replacement means that the old cracked bridge has to be removed.
Removing the old bridge takes about 90 minutes. Installing a new one
takes a little more because there are many little screws here and
there...

How about just the dye inspection w/o having to replace the parts?
Still half a day?

Thanks

Yes, at least half a day for two people, assuming you have not done it
before.

Cause you wouldn't be asking otherwise, right?

Doing inspection with dye takes 20 min. If there are cracks, you will
see it immediately !
I was surprised to discover those cracks forcing me to replace the
whole control bridge.

Don't assume the cracks will be that large to be easily seen espcially
if you leave the bridge in. I have seen a case where the dye check
was inconclusive, but the dye pen ran inside the tube right through
the edge of the weld! This was only found when the part was on the
bench in bright light, with a magnifier as called for in the AD.

Well....on my Blanik, cracks were huge ones.... so the conclusion was
easy to take...unfortunately....

So, y'all telling me that the Feds have grossly underestimated the
time (and therefore the cost) of completing the AD? Astonishing! Oh,
well it is what it is. Anyone want to buy an-out-of annual L13?Thanks.

Mike
