After about 50 flights with a SN10 and having RTFM many times plus
testing with the PC version, I have a couple questions: 1) When I turn to the Alternates page, instead of showing the #1 & #2 closest airports, it shows arbitrary airports, perhaps ones that I've previously selected on other flights. These may be #32 and #56 closest, not very helpful when you need a close airfield. This is remedied by rotating the value to #1, but this seems silly to have one more pilot task during a high stress situation. Am I missing something? 2) I just flew my first contest, which had a 5 mile start cylinder. The only thermal around happened to be on the cylinder edge and it was a massive 1.5 knots, so I got to spend a nice long time watching and listening to the SN10 tell me "you're inside the start cylinder, press help to clear this message", then 1/2 a circle later "you're outside the start cylinder, press enter to make a start, press help to clear this message". To access the Custom page and see my climb rate I had to clear these messages every 1/2 circle. I presume this is one reason guns are not allowed in the cockpit. Do I set Task Rules, Start: = None, then change it back to cylinder after I climb up? Thanks, Bruce |

Set the alternates you are considering, and they stay put even though the ordinals change. Spin the value knob fast and the ordinal goes immediately to #1. 2) I just flew my first contest, which had a 5 mile start cylinder. You certainly don't need to be looking at the panel every 1/2 circle when in the start area surrounded by other gliders... Thanks, Bruce Hope that helps, Best Regards, Dave |
