My 28V transponder is being very slow to warm up lately and I can get a good
deal on another RT-395A but the guys says it is 14V. What would it take to make this one work on my system. Thanks Steve |

Thanks : Steve Your RT-395A transponder might be a 14V unit with a dropping resistor inline, in the airplane's wiring to the transponder (don't laugh! They actually did this!). You might want to remove it from your dashboard and see if it has a voltage rating listed on it. Otherwise, call Airwich Avionics, they know Cessna radios. -- Aaron Coolidge (N9376J) |

Thanks Steve There is only one transponder which works on 14V. In 28V installations, a big dropping resistor is mounted on the rear of the tray. If you are doing a slide-in replacement, no wiring changes should be necessary. MikeM |
