Default USA Collegiate soaring Award for 2010

Let me be the SECOND to congratulate the AFAA cadet Soaring Team: and
YES, they changed their name from Cross Country Team to RACING team!

e-mail from soaring pilot and Cadet Sailplane Racing Team Coach:
Matty

I'd like to be the 1st to congratulate the Cadet Sailplane Racing
Team for winning the 2010 Collegiate Soaring Association (CSA) Trophy
for the 12th time in the last 16 years with 6 a six year win streak
(out
of 17 registered clubs in the CSA).
This is due primarily to the team having flown 20,280.65 miles
flown
in FY 10, to place them in the top 20% out of 1377 soaring clubs in
the
world.

Next time you seem them, congratulate them!

//Signed//
Mr. Mark F. Matticola, GS-12, USAF

Amazing what can be accomplished by the generous application of my tax dollars. Go AIR FORCE.

Walt,

You may have missed this previously, but the gliders raced by the
USAFA team were generously donated by the USAFA Alumni Association.

The few gliders available to the Collegiate Soaring Association were
generously provided by SSA members. Other collegiate pilots must
otherwise use club or rental gliders.

I think it's a GREAT use of my tax dollars - keeps it out of the hands
of some jobless liberal low-life! And thank you for your generous
contribution, too, Walt, old boy!

Go Air Force!

Now if we could get the swabbies from Annapolis and the whoops from
that old place in New York with 200 some years of tradition unmarred
by progress to join the fun, we could have a fun series!

(yes I know the gliders were donated).

Kirk, I hope those DG 1000's they just bought were donated too. And I'm all for keeping my tax money out of the hands of liberal low life. The swabbies would probably want to do all their landings arrested. Don't get your G suit in a wad, I'm all for glider training for our life takers and heart breakers in blue. No matter how you cut it, our tax money is paying for at least part of this. '74 huh? Looks like you missed all the fun.

Yeah, we had to be satisfied with waving at the war protesters during
the Noon parade...

Yep, we paid for the DGs with our tax money, so at least I can pretend
that all mine went for bombs, bullets, and gliders!

Seriously, considering the fiascos the AF has been through on other
aircraft purchases, sounds like the DG buy was pretty smooth.

Speaking of G-suits, mine is sitting right here in front of me at
work, next to my helmet and other assorted "I Love Me" stuff (I work
for the Large Airplane Company, so it fits right in...)

Now, getting in to it might be ugly!

Cheers,

Kirk

I know what you mean. No G suit but I have two old flight suits, one K2B and one Nomex. I can still get into both, I can't zip either of them up but I can still get into them.

A club was formed for the USNA with a generous donation from a
midshipman's family and support from M-ASA. Unfortunately, they
acquired some L-13's, so are struggling with that issue at this
point. The L-13 fix is out there, awaiting EASA and FAA approval, but
not cheap. Looking forward, with additional incentive, methods may be
developed for extending the L-13 service life to 6000 hours.
