For the US based competition pilots. There have been a number of
changes and enhancements made to WINSCORE for 2011 (WINSCORE is the program used to score US based competitions). 1 - some nice enhancements for new and experienced scorers 2 - A few YOUTUBE tutorial videos to demystify how to get started and how to use certain features of WINSCORE. Hoping more are planned. 3 - An updated Users Guide for 2011. A big 'Atta Boy' to Guy Byars and others that assisted. Ron Gleason |

Here here! Thank you very much Guy Byars (and anyone else who helped) for
everything you do for us contest glider pilots!!! Paul Remde "Ron Gleason" wrote in message ... For the US based competition pilots. ![]() A big 'Atta Boy' to Guy Byars and others that assisted. Ron Gleason Let's not forget all those that had input into the changes and development of WINSCORE. without all the 'besta beta" testers...it wouldn't be the robust and easy program it is today. I remember the days when poor Guy used to sit on the phone for hours with all of us trying to use it. Guy, it certainly has grown up to be a very reliant dependable adult program! yes, there are LOTS of thank yous to be be sent for WINSCORE. Micki |

Have not had a chance to try it yet, but I do hope Guy et al will
address this issue, if has not been covered yet: When WINSCORE loads a log file, it tries to associate the pilot name in the log file to one of the names in the registration list by finding an *exact* match, and it stops there if it does not find one. I would like it to attempt to match using the competition ID, preferably first before comparing pilot names. There is one pilot in our ASA contest this year who has no first name, goes by Bergh/Wagner in WINSCORE, the SN10 has the right competition ID but I can't change it ![]() Just wishing ... tuN7o |

It may preserve scorer sanity if there was a means to associate the two entities. For the case cited by Tuno the probem was solved by entering Berg/ Wagner as first name and a space for last name. Of course Winscore is designed to support SSA regionals and nationals and issues like this get resolved during the practice days. It's more of an issue for the ASA series which is scored as a group of one day contests in which the contestants are not always the same, people fly different gliders with different contest numbers, and people change classes. Winscore was not designed for this and the scorer is constantly challenged to find ways to keep it happy. I'd be curious to know how experienced Regional and Nationals scorers handle team entries for contestant name, and what name is used in the log file. Andy |

When WINSCORE loads a log file, it tries to associate the pilot name
in the log file to one of the names in the registration list by finding an *exact* match, and it stops there if it does not find one. I would like it to attempt to match using the competition ID, This is not correct. Winscore first tries to match the competition ID in the log file specificed by: HFCIDCOMPETITIONID: XX with the CID entered for the contestant in the registration list. If no match is found, then it attempts to match the glider ID specified by: HFGIDGLIDERID: XX with the CID entered for the contestant in the registration list. . If no match is found with the CID or the GID, then and only then, does it try an exact match of the pilot's name. Guy Byars |

Guy Byars Yes, that would explain the obervation since the log header is: AXCM0XMFLIGHT:1 HFDTE160411 HFFXA100 HFPLTPILOT:Bergh/Wagner HFGTYGLIDERTYPE:LS 8 HFGIDGLIDERID:N666RB There is a conflict in the use of HFGIDGLIDERID for logs that do not also include HFCIDCOMPETITIONID, since badges and records seem to require the registration to be entered and Winscore requires the contest number (or a pilot name match) Andy |

The complete header from my last log file is:
AXCM0XMFLIGHT:1 HFDTE170411 HFFXA100 HFPLTPILOT:Bergh/Wagner HFGTYGLIDERTYPE:LS 8 HFGIDGLIDERID:N666RB HFDTM100GPSDATUM:WGS-1984 HFRFWFIRMWAREVERSION:4.02.002 HFFTYFRTYPE:SeeYou Mobile HFGPS:Ilec SN10, HFCIDCOMPETITIONID:N7 HFCCLCOMPETITIONCLASS:Standard .... so the COMPETITIONID is correctly set to N7. Why then does WINSCORE not associate the log to the registration entry for (N7, Bergh/Wagner), if the log has "Ted Wagner" instead of "Bergh/Wagner"? (Iirc, this is the reason I had to change the pilot name in SeeYou Mobile from my name to "Bergh/Wagner", and I didn't really want to do that.) Would it help if I set the GLIDERID to N7 as well? |

Don't know. I don't see why you log wouldn't work given Guy's explanation of the order of precedence. All I know is that your log could not be scored until I forced the names to match exactly. If some experimentation shows the log cannot be associated by HFCIDCOMPETITIONID:N7 then I'll follow up with Guy. I'd still like to know how other scorers handle team names but, other than that, I think we can sort this out on the local forum or by email. Andy |
