I have been posting daily updates onwww.soaringcafe.comfor the 18 Meter Nationals. The results are posted herehttp://ssa.org/members/contestreports/contestresultsdetail.asp?id=216... Most pilots, only 15 here, flew 7 days straight, practice and 6 contest days, so today was a rest day. *Record heat in Hobbs, 106-18 on the ground, has produced some fantastic soaring conditions. *While all pilots are doing a great staying hydrated it was obvious that fatigue was settting. Each day the weather improved and by Friday we saw many pilots flying over 90 MPH, Saturday so a number of 100 MPH flights and on Sunday there were 8 out of 15 pilots that flew over 100MPH for the task. More racing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. *There are five folks here that have a chance of making the 2012 world team. Ron Gleason What fantastic conditions & flights for Hobbs this year. Wow! -Gary |
