Ladies and Gentlemen Aviators

This week marks 50 years since Canada and the United Stated were locked in a
showdown over a Canadian purchase of Soviet-built MiG-21 fighters. The
long-standing friendship was at the breaking point and anti-Canadian
sentiment permeated American society. We've come a long way since those dark
days, but it is worth re-examining the events of those months long ago to
learn how to live together in continued in the future.

Congratulations on a very clever and almost credible piece. Must have
taken a lot of effort. We are not worthy!

Well that was legitimately fascinating.

We have the same argument here, whenever the cost of the F-35 is brought up
on talk-back radio. It's only a matter of seconds before some unwashed,
hairless-ape rings up and suggests we buy Russian fighters - an opinion
based on their perceived superiority in airshow demonstrations. "They can
do the 'Cobra' ...."

The previous week, these same punters complained about the hideous $1bn
overrun in the RAN's Sea Sprite project, in which they tried to fit modern
avionics into a 40 year-old sow's ear.

....and they're allowed to vote too.

OK, perhaps I should have read all the responses before replying....

In my defence, it's April 2 here (early in the morning) and I'm only half
way through my first coffee.

I'm always a sucker for a well planned April Fools' joke, ask me about
'metric time' some day.

He/he/he! Well....I wish I could take credit for it....but all credit goes
to the author. I merely reposted it. :-)

The full article and photos are truly a masterpiece. It must have taken
quite some effort to come up with that.

Happy April 1!

Nick

* It is April 2md (as I read this.)
* It is on the InterWeb for Computers.
* I want to believe.

Ergo, it is Trvth.
