I'm considering buying a completed Glasair 1 FT with an IO360 and FP prop.
I fly a Grumman Cheetah but want a lot more speed and range. I cannot find any V-speeds on the net for the Glasair 1, only for the Glasair ll. What kind of TO and LDG distances does it require? Tom Andersen Greensboro NC |

Don't have the V-speeds, but double check the pitch and yaw stability at aft c.g., especially at slow speeds. Double check that this plane's envelope is as per factory recommendations, and find out if the prototype was spin tested. Ed Wischmeyer |

If you want the real information, call New Glasair at 360 435-8533 and talk
to Ted or Tom Setzer. They designed the airplane. Or you can come over here and talk with other GI pilots. Bruce www.glasair.org "Tom Andersen" wrote in message r.com... From a G1 brochure - stall w/flaps @ gross weight 62mph, take off roll gross 700 ft., landing roll gross 530. Best rate 110, Best angle 75, Maneuvering 145, Never exceed 260. Many G1s have wingtip extensions which lower the stall speed etc. If yours doesn't have them, then you could add them. Of course every example is going to be slightly different. Empty weight on which those specs were probably based is 960 pounds. If the one you're looking at is fatter than that then ..... There are quite a few things you should be looking for in terms of updates. Best to get with New Glasair for that advice. IIRC, the archives at http://www.glasair.org/ have some detailed articles about the progression of Glasair models as well as lots of other stuff that you'd probably find useful. Wayne |
