I know Jay and Mary got out of Iowa City this morning early, at least according
to the person on duty at their hotel. They were TRYING to get to California-Grass Valley (O17) today, but it is getting REAL dark outside and I doubt either one of them are dumb enuf to cross the Sierra in the dark. Anybody know where they lit for the night? Jim Jim Weir (A&P/IA, CFI, & other good alphabet soup) VP Eng RST Pres. Cyberchapter EAA Tech. Counselor http://www.rst-engr.com |

Nevver mind, they just called. They are in Reno ($25 a night for tiedown) and
will be here in the morning. Good choice...the Sierra after dark in a single engine aircraft is somewhat stuupid...and neither Jay nor Mary are. Thanks for the update Jim.
I e-mailed you my cell number to pass along as I'm hoping to hook up with them on Saturday. Yep, night over the Sierra's hoping the fan doesn't quit...no thanks! .the Sierra after dark in a single engine aircraft is somewhat
stuupid. Ouch! One of my most memorable and thrilling flights was from Lake Tahoe to Reno and back at night in a rented Skyhawk. It was February, and I had taken a mountain flying orientation that afternoon in the same a/c I rented. It wasn't a long flight at all, and there was a pass where I could see through to the valley clearly. Starlight, crystal clear cold air, visibility forever. www.Rosspilot.com |
