I've been having problems with my rec.aviation.soaring news feed for the
past three days. As a result, I haven't received any new threads. I have
contacted my provider and am still working on the problem.

This message is a test to see if the problem has been resolved.

I got your message; interestingly, I've been getting about 20% of the
usual traffic the last couple days. Maybe there is a more wide-spread
problem?

There's traffic showing up on the Google groups r.a.s. viewer that
doesn't seem to make it out to the rest of the world.

What News Group reader are you using?

Besides this thread, my last new thread is "Smoken fast climb" posted on the

I just sent feedback about this to Google.

There's a thread running on the NANOG list (North American Network Operators Group) with the subject "uunet ends newsfeed/newsreader in US". More specifically it's about uunet/vzb, or Verizon Business will terminate 3/31. I'm presuming that somewhere along the mergers and acquisitions, Verizon got uunet's USENET servers. Could be that Google and other newsfeeds are remapping, or not, causing some gaps, as this long standing newsfeed might be peered with a number of others.

I use Seamonkey 2.8 (essentially a Firefox/Thunderbird combo: browser,
email, html editor, and some bits I don't use). I get the group from the
nntp.aioe.org newsgroup server.

Eric,

I've been using supernews.com. I have provided them a list of message IDs
that appear on Google and are missing from the Suppernews server. I've been
informed that they all were deleted from their server due to copyright
violations. This is the only thread that I have seen in the last two and a
half days.

I sent text from several of the missing messages and ask them to identify
for me the copyright infringements. As a result the trouble call has been
moved up to "management" for resolution.

Supernews is a paid-for service which have been happy with for the past
eight years. This is my first problem and it is a major one.

I get the group from the nntp.aioe.org newsgroup server. It's free, and
it's been reliable for several years. There are other free servers, but
this is only one I'm familiar with.

I was missing a couple messages that I did find by reading them on Google.
