AOPA ePilot Special Airspace Bulletin November 24, 2003 ---------------------------------------------------------------- A special notice to AOPA members in the southwestern United States == ATTENTION PILOTS == FAA TO ESTABLISH TFRs OVER LAS VEGAS, PHOENIX TOMORROW AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near the southwestern United States that the FAA will issue notams restricting flight in the Las Vegas and Phoenix areas during President Bush's visits to the cities tomorrow (Tuesday, November 25). According to the "Las Vegas Review-Journal," President Bush will visit Spring Valley Hospital before attending a luncheon at The Venetian. Based on previous presidential travel, AOPA anticipates the notam to establish large temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) limiting general aviation flight. But at this time, AOPA does not have confirmation as to the size of the TFRs or when they will be active. The notam had not been issued as of 11 a.m. Pacific time on Monday. AOPA will post the notam on AOPA Online ( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html ) as soon as possible after it is issued. From Las Vegas the president will travel to Phoenix. The FAA has established a TFR ( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html#3/1207 ) restricting flight between 2:35 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. local time. Affected airports are Phoenix Sky Harbor International, Scottsdale, Phoenix Deer Valley, Stellar Airpark, Glendale Municipal, Falcon Field, Chandler Municipal, Phoenix Goodyear, Pleasant Valley, Williams Gateway, Lost Dutchman Heliport, and Estrella Sailport. Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages pilots to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight. Violators will be intercepted and forced to land. It's not that he's important, it's that he thinks he's important. Or maybe he knows how many enemies he has? #m -- Politician never lie. They just tell their own truth. (Dave in r.a.p.) |
