I saw on Facebook, an FREE APP called SEARCH4ME, which I downloaded from Android APPS on Google Play. It not only shows you where your at with lat and long, but your altitude and a street address(if available), but it will send to multiple numbers, along with a message of your choice which you create. I sent this SMS message to a friend and it works great!. Its for free and I use a Sprint HTC cell. Now another backup for my Spot! #711. This app is very interesting. A great alternative to SPOT or INReach if you don't want to make the investment and expect cell coverage. I took the time to upload some flights to Skylines. Impressive view of the flights when comparing the graphics to OLC. I wish there was some way to "search" clubs, gliderports, and pilots. Also I need to have Rose City Soaring added to the club list but could not find an email link. Lane XF |

These apps work great for tracking if there is cell coverage. Where I fly in western US, I rarely have cell coverage when I am higher than 3-4000 feet.. I am using AT&T. I am curious to know if anyone has been using cell based tracking successfully in California and the Great Basin.
