The date has been set for the weekend of 20/21 April (weather permitting) for
the LVVSA Spring Auto-Tow event. Nothing looks threatening in the forecast so far. The location is Roach dry lake, off Interstate 15 just north of the California/Nevada border. Directions can be found on the LVVSA.org website (click the 'Safaris' tab). Auto and Aero tows, great fun, great food! Auto-tows are fun, even when conditions don't support soaring. After flying, there will be lots of good food* (potluck), a roaring fire, sacrifices to the lift dogs, and general camaraderie. I think this year we may try a mass launch of Chinese Sky Lanterns. A $10.00/day LVVSA guest membership will be required (must be an SSA member), and auto-tows will be $10.00 each. The Pawnee will also be available for aero tows at club rates. Lots of other activities are welcome. Kites, model rockets, RC planes, sailcars, and kite buggies have all been enjoyed at one time or another in the past. Sometimes Dan Wrobel brings his telescope for a special evening treat. *There's always too much food. Bring a big appetite! |
