Default Canada WX-BRIEF?

How do I check weather while flying in Canada? Is there a 800-WX-BRIEF
in Canada? Where do I file my domestic Canadian flight plans? The AOPA
packet didn't include any of this information.

1-866-wxbrief (1-866-992-7433)

.... for both flight planning/briefing & filing purposes.

Look in your Canadian Flight Supplement[1] at any airport entry under "FLT
PLN" - the "FIC" is 'Flight Information Centre' and will give you the #
appropriate for that airport.

Note that any XC must have a flight plan filed and opened, and that
Tower/Ground controllers will open & close FPs for you; those are the two
big differences I'm aware of between us & the States.

Brian.
[1] I hope you've got the CFS; you can get it thru mail order and it's got
all the airports in Canada and lots of other information. The back cover
is esp. useful - notes for Flight Plans, Enroute Reports, Arrival Reports,
etc etc etc

Thanks, Sportys was backordered on some of the Canada matrials. I just
got my IFR terminal procedures in last night. Very interesting. Its
like an enroute chart with a bunch of sections for the terminal area
(no approaches). They're also out of the VFR charts for the Vancouver
area but expect to ship next week.

I'm not sure if its worth it to buy actual approach plates for the
Vancouver area in July. I guess if I need to I could pick them up
before crossing the boarder. I'm assuming most Northern Washington
FBOs stock Canadian charts too.

Go he

http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/canada_e.html
read local, then select aviation/metars/tafs, satellite/upper
winds/whatever you want. It is THE Canadian aviation weather site

Actually, the link above just winds up going here anyway:
http://www.flightplanning.navcanada.ca/
.... so you can save a step and go there directly!

Also, the FAA/NOAA ADDS site (http://adds.aviationweather.noaa.gov/)
can retrieve Canadian & international METARs & TAFs, if you know the
airport code. They even provide a huge list of worldwide wx reporting
stations, so you can look the codes up. Pretty cool, actually.

I do like the fact that Nav Canada give you both the TAFs & METARs on the
same page, though. Makes comparing & checking the forecasts w/ actual wx
easier!

Yes - if you want to skip all of the 5 day forcasts for every city on
your route. But why?
