During my checkout in a G-1000 equipped 182, I had asked if there was a way to
show two navaids simultaneously on the HSI and was told that it wasn't possible with the current software. In this month's AOPA Pilot, I see that there is a G-1000 equipped Mooney on page 72, with both NAV1 and NAV2 displayed on the HSI, along with two text boxes on either side of the HSI showing what navaid or fix is tuned in. Does anyone know if this is possible on the Cessna G-1000, or is this a Mooney-only feature? Other than that, and the flaps indicator showing on the screen, there doesn't look to be much difference between the installations in the two planes. Probably a smart idea to not allow too much differentiation, otherwise it could be a nightmare getting checked out in multiple G-1000 planes. Thanks, Eric |

I've flying a DA40-180 tomorrow with the G-1000, I'll let you know..
I just glanced at the brochure Cessna sent me on their G-1000 equipped new birds.. the picture there only had one. It appears you are looking for an RMI function with at least 2 indicators, one on the CDI portion of the HSI and one "bearing pointer" around the outside of the compass rose.. So the question may be.. does the G1000 have an RMI display? BT "Bartscher" wrote in message ... well.. to answer the question.. I could not bring up the NAV1 and NAV2
display at the same time on the HSI portion (pilots side) of the G-1000. But I could bring up "NEAREST VOR" on the right "NAV PAGE" and watch the radial and distance change as we flew along, providing the VORs were NEAREST enough to be in the top 4. Nearest Airport could be brought up in one of the windows on the pilot side, need to see how to get that to be Nearest VOR, but I think for emergencies it defaults to nearest airport. Need to spend more time with the G-1000 manual, but it would make it difficult to fly a VOR approach that requires crossing VOR radials from a second VOR and does not have a valid GPS overlay approach.. need to check that one out with a CFII and Garmin. I was flying right seat, we did 4.0 in the DA40-180 (Diamond Star), North Las Vegas (VGT) to ElMonte CA (EMT) to Cal City CA (L71) (cleared through the Edwards AFB Restricted area) and then back to VGT via the "Trona Pass" (L72) to get around the Ft Irwin bombing range. We averaged 145KTAS at 8.5 and 9.5 respectively on 10gph. We were cleared through R2515,R2524 and R2505 above 6000MSL, but not R2502N, the Leach Lake Range at Ft Irwin was hot, as was R2502E on our SW portion of the trip which took about a 10nm deviation to go around from our direct route of VGT , Hesperia CA, EMT.
