Flarm have updated their DLL file from version 1.5.1 to 1.5.3. This new version is now available for download from the GFAC and IGC web sites. DLL stands for "Dynamic Link Library" and is a file that links with other programs, in this case the IGC-Shell program for checking the electronic integrity of IGC files.
Pilots, OOs, competition organisers and NACs dealing with IGC flight data files produced by Flarm firmware are advised to update this DLL on their computers. Flarm firmware is the primary firmware on six types of IGC-approved FRs from 4 different manufacturers: Ediatec: 1. ECW100F Flarm: 2. Flarm-IGC 3. PowerFlarm-IGC LX Navigation: 4. Mini Box Flarm-IGC 5. Red Box Flarm-IGC LXNAV: 6. FlarmMouse Owners and pilots using the above FRs are advised to check that Downloaded IGC files Validate correctly, before making a flight which may need to be checked to IGC standards. -------------------------- General. For a flight to be approved for an IGC badge, distance diploma, record or competition, its IGC file must pass the IGC electronic Validation check. This is done through the IGC Shell program, or other programs such as SeeYou that incorporate IGC Shell. IGC Shell works with individual FR manufacturer's DLL files which allow the flight data in IGC files from that manufacturer's FRs to be checked for validity at any time. The IGC Shell Validation process can be used at any time and shows that (1) the IGC file has originated from a serviceable and secure IGC-approved Flight Recorder and (2) the flight data in the IGC file being checked is identical to when it was originally downloaded. The second point can be checked by changing one character in the flight data (such as one number in a Lat/Long), after which the file should fail Validation. On replacing the correct character, the file should once more pass Validation. The IGC Shell program and all FR manufacturers' DLL files can be obtained from the GFAC and IGC web sites as follows: -------------------------- GFAC web site : www.ukiws.demon.co.uk/GFAC For all FR Manufacturers' DLL files and the IGC Shell Program : http://www.ukiws.demon.co.uk/GFAC/downloads.htm -------------------------- Navigating the IGC web site: www.fai.org/igc-our-sport/gnss-recording-devices Scroll down to "GNSS Recording Devices", then click on "Free software" In the box ""Flight Recorders" scroll down and click on "FR Manufacturers DLL Files", which lists the IGC Shell program and the latest FR Manufacturer DLL files ready for downloading. -- Ian Strachan Chairman IGC GFA Committee www.ukiws.demon.co.uk/GFAC http://www.fai.org/gnss-recording-de...ight-recorders |
