The Adventures of Pez D. Spencer, Sailplane Racer, have returned to the
Internet. The kind folks at the Central California Soaring Club at Avenal (www.soaravenal.com) have posted the original episodes and will host the new ones as they come off the press. Right now, there is some confusion between our staff of artists (me) and the Internet Service Provider (Elizabeth) about how these things were originally published. We will correct that over time as my memory drugs start to kick in. There were actually 4 Adventures. The first was a comic book published for a PASCO meeting to encourage ad hoc racing. I might redraw it with the current Pez later so the world can watch Pez kick the crap out of Sven Victor, his Region 11 nemesis. Then, there was Tonopah, the original. It was created, along with the others, to pump the Regionals and Nationals at Tonopah under the careful arm-twisting of Jim Norris who was engineering the fastest race in the history of soaring. After that, Pez Duz Texiz which was about racing at Uvalde...a most excellent venue and a most amazing gathering of soaring talent. Finally, there was Doon, which described racing at the Tonopah Nationals. There were about a dozen Epilogue Episodes that were never published and won't be. Old news. This is to announce Pez Gets His Diamonds. It is a non-racing adventure for soaring pilots. It will be irreverent, R-rated, and poorly drawn like the others. It might get strange. Hang on. Thanks again to Avenal and Elizabeth Bedard. Hopefully, I can make us laugh at ourselves again. John Shelton, sailplane racer Senior VP for Marketing PDS Galactic Enterprises P.S. The staff wishes good luck and the speed of light to the P7 Unit. |
