Please be advised that there are other ways of inspecting composite
bond joints than cutting holes into wings and inserting endoscopes. I have been professionally involved in the design and manufacture of ultrasonic composite bond testers used by the Air Force and know there are other non-destructive alternatives. Some repair shops may already have this equipment. If not, it can be rented: http://www.easternndt.com/products.asp This could make the inspection cost one tenth what it will if done by the tech note, esp. if multiple gliders can be tested by the same piece of equipment (rent it for a month and ship it between inspection stations). |
