DeLorme AG-009871-201 inReach SE is about 100 bucks cheaper than
DeLorme AG-008727-201 InReach Explorer Two Way Satellite Communicator with Built in Navigation I really don't need the navigation - I do want it to supply hight and speed. Does it matter which I buy? WH1 |

Assuming you have other devices for GPS navigation no reason to get that for the InReach. Both provide altitude and position reporting and both can send / receive messages. You can pair the non navigation unit with an iPhone or similar device using a Delorme app for navigation which I do on hikes but not in the glider.

I totally agree. Quite a few reviews talk about how poor the navigation is for hiking. It's infinitely worse in a cockpit as the screen is too small and the interface requires far too many clicks. But the non nag features are great, infinitely better than spot. Buy the cheap one!
